Early Rehabilitation Program
Our experience in the rehabilitation of more than 15 thousand patients with cerebral palsy and disorders of the nervous system from all over the world has shown the importance of early rehabilitation intervention.
The Early Rehabilitation Program is oriented to overcome psychological retardation and speech development resulted from prenatal disorders of the nervous system at the time of pregnancy, delivery, as well as during the first months of the baby's life. It requires consistent cooperation of medical staff and the patients’ parents.
The candidates for the treatment are children aged between three months and one year. The outpatient intensive treatment period takes place in the Rehabilitation Center “Elita” and lasts for 5 days. If needed, it can be repeated every month. After a year an individual treatment program is set for every patient according to his/her involvement, also the frequency is determined depending on his/her condition.
During every visit the patient is given a thorough clinical examination and evaluation of his/her motor functions. Dynamics of motor, psychological, speech and social development of a patient is assessed according to DENVER II and PEDI international tests.
The overall treatment includes biomechanical spinal correction, reflexotherapy, special massage, respiratory gymnastics elements, and therapeutic physical training. The treatment helps to improve muscle tone of the child, as a result he/she develops new functions of the motor activity. The treatment also helps with respiration rhythm, blood circulation and tissue metabolism which offers new possibilities to motor, psychological, speech and social development of a child.
While staying in the Center, parents are taught some of the rehabilitation exercises that are necessary to maintain the progress achieved at the center. It ensures continuous treatment at home under the supervision of local doctors. Implementation of the Early Rehabilitation Program contributes to the decrease of neurological disorders of young children and raises the possibility of avoiding their further physical and social disability.
Appointments for the treatment course at the Early Rehabilitation Program are set upon consultations of the Center's doctors or examination of the patient's case history.
