Elita Rehabilitation Centre
Founded in Lviv in 1990 with the international support, the Elita Rehabilitation Centre has become the very first medical institution to put the System of Intensive Neurophysiological Rehabilitation, known as the Kozyavkin Method, into medical practice.
The rehabilitation centre's favourable location in the green and isolated area in the close vicinity of the city centre definitely adds much to both patients and medical staff here feeling more comfortable, secure, and relaxed.
The uniqueness of the centre lies in its exceptional technologies in the field of medicine having been put into practice from the very beginning of the centre's activities.
Thus, the Elita Rehabilitation Centre has become the first medical institution in Ukraine provided with the computerized electroencephalography equipment suitable for Brain Mapping.
Today, the rehabilitation centre can be deservedly perceived as a powerful base for conducting in-depth and extensive research on physical therapy, including the development of new methods and technologies for rehabilitation on both theoretical and practical levels.
The Early Intervention Programme for children who are likely to develop cerebral palsy is what can be truly called the rehabilitation centre's brainchild.
Recently, the Ukrainian versions of the world-known tests on estimating children's development such as Gross Motor Function Measurement (GMFM), Pediatric Evaluation Disability Inventory (PEDI), and DENVER II Child Development Screening Test have been put into practice.
Earlier, in 1998-2000, the project on Supporting Children with Learning Disabilities was piloted in the centre, speaking loudly about the efficiency of the Kozyavkin Method in the treatment of such children.
The information-analytical department functioning within the centre contributes much to its effective performance. The major tasks the department deals with include: promoting the information on the Kozyavkin Method among potential patients, doctors, researchers and ordinary people as well; analysing the newest achievements in the world of medicine; implementing new information technologies into medical practice; organizing regular (since November 2004) on-line video teleconferences between doctors and patients or among doctors merely; expanding the use of computer technology in facilitating and accelerating the process of the centre's management. For instance, for processing and storing the patients' medical records and other data concerning their health condition and their treatment outcomes, special software has been developed by one of the local software companies.
