Gross Motor Function Classification System

The Gross Motor Function Classification System classifies the motor involvement of children with cerebral palsy on the basis of their functional abilities and their need for assistive technology and wheeled mobility

This classification system developed by the CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability Research of MacMaster University has been translated to many languages and now is widely accepted in the world. Detailed information about Gross Motor Function Classification is available at CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability Research web page www.canchild.ca.

Ukrainian translation of the Gross Motor Function Classification has been done in the International Clinic of Rehabilitation. GMFCS has been introduced in the everyday work of the International Clinic of Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation Center “Elita”.

We suggest wide use of the classification in the clinical practise and research work.
